KAIROS (call of the moment) Spirituality-for-Social Justice Centre
A green brochure can be found at the back of the church outlining all their up-coming programs as well as posters on the boards. They are very colourful - you can't miss them.

KAIROS UNDER THREAT - The Federal Government has unexpectedly terminated funding for KAIROS. For over 35 years this ecumenical organization, supported by Development and Peace, the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops and various Christian groups has been recognized for its outstanding work promoting economic justice, human rights and environmental sustainability. The KAIROS proposal was approved at evey level of CIDA prior to reaching the office of the Minister of International Cooperation. Info: (www.kairoscanada.org)

H.E.L.P. NITE FOR SEPARATED AND DIVORCED CATHOLICS

FROM THE ARCHDIOCESAN COMMITTEE ON END-OF-LIFE-ISSUES
Bill C384, An Act to amend the Criminal Code (right to die with dignity), is now scheduled to have its second hour of debate on February 2, 2010 with the vote on February 3. In light of these developments, the above-named committee strongly encourages all parishes toinclude the following prayers during their prayer time at meetings, liturgies, etc until such time that the Bill has been defeated.   • for a change of heart in those who promote euthanasia and assisted suicide, we pray to the Lord.
  • for the sick, especially those needing end-of-life care, and for those who provide this care, we pray....
  • for all people to support the sacredness of life from conception until natural death, we pray...
  • for a greater understanding of and support for palliative care for the sick in our communities, we pray...
  • for the defeat of Bill C384 which would legalize euthanasia and assisted suicide, we pray...

 

WEEK OF PRAYER FOR CHRISTIAN UNITY
Come be a part of learning and growing inn ecumenical Christian community. Workshops include Christian Unity, Contemplative/Centering Prayer, & Faith & Environment. Saturday, January 23 1:00-4:00pm, Annunciation Orthodox Cathedral, 15 Lebreton Street North. Presented by the Christian Council of the Capital Area as a service to members of all Christian communities. Registration is free. HEALING LOVE ACADEMY
at St. Paul University, Room 204 on the last Friday of the month. A new theme will be explored each month. The evening program consists of a presentation by a professional on the evening theme, followed by discussion, questions and answers. Cost $10. at the door. No registration required.
