KAIROS UNDER THREAT - The Federal Government has unexpectedly terminated funding for KAIROS. For over 35 years this ecumenical organization, supported by Development and Peace, the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops and various Christian groups has been recognized for its outstanding work promoting economic justice, human rights and environmental sustainability. The KAIROS proposal was approved at evey level of CIDA prior to reaching the office of the Minister of International Cooperation. Info: (www.kairoscanada.org)

FROM THE ARCHDIOCESAN COMMITTEE ON END-OF-LIFE-ISSUES
Bill C384, An Act to amend the Criminal Code (right to die with dignity), is now scheduled to have its second hour of debate on February 2, 2010 with the vote on February 3. In light of these developments, the above-named committee strongly encourages all parishes toinclude the following prayers during their prayer time at meetings, liturgies, etc until such time that the Bill has been defeated. - for the sick, especially those needing end-of-life care, and for those who provide this care, we pray....
- for all people to support the sacredness of life from conception until natural death, we pray...

- for the defeat of Bill C384 which would legalize euthanasia and assisted suicide, we pray...
WEEK OF PRAYER FOR CHRISTIAN UNITY
