Pastoral Planning Team

A pastoral plan is a road map setting out where and how Canadian Martyrs Parish would like to grow as a community of faith over the next few years, what we see as our priorities and objectives, and what we intend to do to reach them.

Our pastoral planning began late in 2006 with discussions in Pastoral Council on how to renew the parish. Council developed a Mission Statement setting out our identity and purpose as a parish and, after this Statement was adopted by the community, established a Pastoral Planning Team as a subcommittee of Council charged with developing a pastoral plan of action.

This section contains the principal working papers and reports that have been produced during the pastoral planning process.

Following the adoption of the Mission Statement in March 2008, an open house or 'town hall' was held to engage parishioners in the strategic planning process. The  Planning Team then developed a parish survey which parishioners responded to in February 2009. Pastoral Council reviewed the findings of this survey at its annual retreat in June 2009 and the survey report was distributed to the parish.

A second 'town hall' is planned for October 3, 2009, at which parishioners will be asked to dig deeper into the dimensions and implications of the four major issues that emerged from the survey. The Planning Team will then work on developing priorities, goals and strategies for a Pastoral Plan that can be submitted for the consideration of Pastoral Council and the parish at large in 2010.
